Hunting the Earl of Rone
Friday 22nd to Monday 25th May 2020
Various events throughout the bank holiday weekend
An undeniably unique event held over four days in which the Grenadiers, Hobby Horse, Fool and villagers hunt through the village for the Earl of Rone. This ancient practice starts on Friday evening with activities throughout the weekend and culminating on Monday evening when the Earl of Rone is finally captured.
A great community event - fun and interesting for all to see.
Combe Martin Strawberry Fair
Date to be announced for 2020
Usually second Sunday in June
The nineteenth and early twentieth century saw a significant growth in commercial market gardening in the valleys of Combe Martin - the way the land lies and the micro climate it produces is ideal - hence this little village has become famous for its delicious strawberries.
At the fair in the centre of the village at Adams Hay you'll find stalls selling all manner of goodies from extremely talented local craftspeople. With cream teas, tombolas and fun and games for the children it’s a wonderful family day out.
